Dongguk University WISE Campus (President Ryu Wan-ha) announced on February 12 that it has been selected as a certified university in the 2025 Educational Internationalization Competency Certification Program organized by the Ministry of Education and the National Research Foundation of Korea.

In the 2025 Educational Internationalization Competency Certification Program, the first evaluation of the fourth cycle, Dongguk University WISE Campus was selected as a certified university for both degree programs and language training courses. The certification period spans four years, from March 2026 to February 2030.

The 'Educational Internationalization Competency Certification Program' has been implemented by the Ministry of Education since 2011 to expand the recruitment of excellent international students and enhance the internationalization capabilities of domestic students. The Ministry of Education selects universities with outstanding internationalization capabilities through evaluations in the areas of 'illegal stay rate,' 'strategy and selection,' 'international student support,' and 'international student management and performance,' and grants various policy benefits to certified universities to ensure quality management in university internationalization.

With this certification, Dongguk University WISE Campus has secured an important momentum to overcome the challenges facing regional universities by not only attracting excellent international students—a new educational demographic amid declining school-age populations—but also gaining a competitive advantage in various national projects linked with the government and local authorities.

Building on this foundation, the university has led Gyeongsangbuk-do Province's policy to attract 30,000 international students, recruiting over 1,000 new international students in the past year while achieving a 0% illegal stay rate, earning recognition as an exemplary case of simultaneous quantitative and qualitative growth. In particular, the university is taking a leading role in revitalizing the regional economy through the establishment of a global innovation higher education hub based on the 2025 APEC legacy.

Dongguk University WISE Campus is currently leading high-tech learning innovation and glocal higher education innovation models by proactively introducing various contents, systems, and programs for university specialization through internationalization, including specialized curricula for international students, AI-based remote courses, DGFA (Dongguk Global Freshmen Academy), designation as an official TOPIK testing center, and employment and settlement support through region-specific visas.
