Korea-India Online Glocal Capacity Development for Education for High School Students

Dongguk University WISE conducts online mentoring programs for high school students in Gyeongju and India. The program will be promoted as a global innovation model in cooperation with the Korean Cultural Center in India. It will be joined by Professor Ju Su-eun from the Department of Home Economics Education at Dongguk University WISE, and students from the same department will participate as mentors. Students from Gyeongju Girls' Information High School and ASN Senior Secondary School in India will participate as mentees.

To enhance the mutual understanding of Korean Wave culture among students from the two countries, they will learn about Hyecho's India Travel Journal, Storytelling about Korean traditional knots and cloth, and take K-Pop Korean classes. K-Culture will be enjoyed together on the metaverse, and students from India will have the chance for career counseling such as studying in Korea during the program.

Lee You-kyung, head of the Office of International Affairs, said, "India, which has the world’s biggest population with English as its official language, plans to strengthen various cooperation with India, including culture, academia, and economy, due to the strong Hallyu boom. In particular, Dongguk University WISE will lead the sustainable development of local universities by attracting Indian international students in connection with local governments and developing it into a specialized Glocal innovation model of the University for regional co-prosperity.

Yi Young-kyoung, president of Dongguk University WISE, visited India for eight days from March 6 to create global value by discovering a cooperative model with India and interacting with sister universities, the Korean Embassy in India, and the Korean Cultural Center in India.
